Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Data Scientist at IBM Watson Advertising & Weather, you will help transform our weather data, consumer data, and advertising data into tangible business value by analyzing information, communicating outcomes and collaborating on product development. Work with Best-in-Class open source and visual tools, along with the most flexible and scalable deployment options. Whether it’s investigating trends or weather patterns, you will work to solve real world problems for the industries transforming how we live.

The role will support Data Science/AI modeling that is the foundation of our Data Business. They will enable innovation through data and build solutions that benefit not just our business but the industry. The Data Scientist will be proficient in conducting analytics, machine learning modeling, and building business intelligence. Main responsibilities include analyzing data sources, summarizing quality and insights, exploring predictive and advanced analytics opportunities, building AI or BI solutions along with peers in the broader Data & AI team.

The main responsibilities include:
• Work with Analytics and Business Intelligence teams to understand data fields definitions, KPIs, various business metrics that are tacked by stakeholders, and the workflows that transform the data.
• Work with Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, and Architects to perform efficient data exploration, leverage appropriate tools and functions for data processing, and build automation pipelines that perform machine learning at scale and output quality data for further downstream use cases.
• Work with Product/Business owners to understand the needs for data and AI solutions, define business rules and logic, and test solution performance. Be a data advisor when it comes to using data to solve a business problem.
• Use Python and other open-source frameworks to visualize, analyze, and model data. Proficient with statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and when/how they should be applied in real world applications.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise
3yrs to 5+ years
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field such as Statistics, Math, Engineering, Information Systems, etc.
• Work experience in data/business analysis, analytics, data visualization, reporting, machine learning, predictive modeling, or data engineering
• Work experience in Python/PySpark for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
• Work experience in querying data using SQL and BI tools
• Work experience in databases and pulling data with table joins
• Work experience with cloud platforms such as IBM Cloud and AWS\\
• Good communication and presentation skills to explain technical solutions to either technical peers or non-technical stakeholders


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
5+ years to 7+ years
• Master’s or PhD degree in a STEM field such as Statistics, Math, Engineering, Information Systems, etc.
• Work experience in data/business analysis, analytics, data visualization, reporting, machine learning, predictive modeling, or data engineering
• Work experience in Python/PySpark for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
• Work experience in querying data using SQL and BI tools
• Work experience in databases and pulling data with table joins
• Work experience with cloud platforms such as IBM Cloud and AWS

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
